October 22, 2020. Elections Saskatchewan mailed a record 61,412 Vote by Mail ballot kits to Saskatchewan voters.
The deadline to apply to vote by mail was 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, October 15. Voters have until 8 p.m. on October 26, Election Day, to place their marked ballot packages in the mail. Elections Saskatchewan will accept any Vote by Mail ballot package that it receives by November 5.
Vote by Mail ballot packages will be counted in two groups – 1) those received by October 26, which will begin being counted on October 28; and 2) those received between October 27 and November 5, which will be counted beginning November 7 at the Final Count.
The number of Vote by Mail ballot packages that will be counted after Election Day will not equal the number of Vote by Mail ballot packages mailed. All Vote by Mail ballot packages must be adjudicated for compliance with The Election Act, 1996 before being accepted for counting. Some voters may also choose to vote in person as opposed to by mail or may simply choose not to return a marked ballot.
Information on the number of Vote by Mail ballot packages to be counted in each group after Election Day will be provided at a later date.
