June 28, 2022 – Saskatchewan’s Chief Electoral Officer today released Volume III, Statement of Expenditures, in A Report on the Twenty-Ninth General Election.

This volume provides insights on the financial costs of administering Saskatchewan’s October 2020 provincial general election, including reimbursement expenses paid to eligible registered political parties and candidates.

“Saskatchewan’s 29th General Election was unlike any other in the history of the province,” says Dr. Michael Boda, Chief Electoral Officer of Saskatchewan, and head of Elections Saskatchewan. “The event was administered in the midst of the global pandemic, which resulted in significant changes not only to how voters and other key stakeholders were served but also to how Elections Saskatchewan conducted its work. And, of course, this had an impact on the final cost of the election.”

For the first time, the Chief Electoral Officer conducted an administrative review of the province’s political finance processes. This was done in a manner parallel to the administrative review of election operations that was published in Volume II, Administrative Review, in A Report on the Twenty-Ninth General Election.

The report can be found at: www.elections.sk.ca/reports-data/reports-publications/.

Elections Saskatchewan will produce four volumes documenting the 2020 general election:
